for all of you who seemed to miss it first time around. I’ll take both Chapters 36 and 37 down when the next one goes up.

Hopefully now that the long stretch of birthdays, Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year, and the collective fuss that goes with it is over, I will get back to some serious writing and revising.

I know a while back I tossed out the idea of maybe working Whispers as a single POV novel, 3rd person, tight. All about Kalea to start with.
I’m vacillating now.
If I can’t write about a character in such a way that makes people want to read about them, then there’s something wrong with my writing.
I think I’ll stick with my original plan, keep multiple POVs–maybe trim them back a bit to say four or five–and make all the characters so sympathetic that people just can’t put the book down. Heh.
Guess we’ll see how I do with that. <grin>

Chapter 37, a small chapter about Jala and Shebra is now posted. If you’ve registered you should be easily able to access it.
This chapter was newly written, and is mainly a help in moving the plot forward to where the ending of this book can play out. I’m not sure, in revisions, if it will stay a separate chapter like this or if I’ll combine it with another chapter.
But for now it’s a small stand-alone chapter. Here’s an excerpt, Shebra is speaking first:
“Ah-hah. So, it is true. You are not as stupid as you play at being. I see there is the beginning of a backbone there after all. Just a little one, about the same size as in a river trout, but it could grow.”
A backbone the size of a river trout? As much as he wanted to keep his composure, he felt his eyes widen. Playing at being stupid?
Shebra laughed with delight and clapped her hands together.
He had to get out of there fast. “Good bye Shebra. Please remember what I asked of you.” Before she had a chance to play any more games with him he turned around and marched out of the room without bothering to close the door behind him.
“Your gloves, Jala. You forgot them.” Again, another amused chuckle. Damn his gloves, she could keep them. There was no way he was going back in there again. Jala patted his hair into place and scowled at the black eyed, tall man servant dressed in rich reds and gold, who was passing by. The man looked startled, and then lowered his eyes to the ground. Damn her too. What was she thinking?
And the good news is that the next chapter, all about Dredd and Kalea, will be posted probably in a day or two. It’s all but finalized, just needs a read through and minor line edits. So, keep your eyes open for that one too.
Happy reading.

And may it be the best yet for all who read this.
Christmas and New Year have been keeping me from writing, so much happening. I’m hoping that things will settle down again and life will become more…well…predictable. Having said that, I’m not sure it will.
